This is a Steyr Hahn 1911 in 9mm. It is Austrian proofed and dated 1919, with the slide also dated 1919. There is the Czech intertwined “CSR” proof on the right side of the frame, and an “S” and Czech standing lion proof on the right side of the trigger guard. It has the proper checkered walnut grips and all matching numbers, with no import markings. There is about 90% blue remaining, and the bore is excellent.
The Steyr Hahn (“Hahn” is German for “hammer,” for its external hammer) entered Austro-Hungarian service in 1912, and about 300,000 were made. After World War I, Czechoslovakia received Steyr Hahn pistols as war reparations, which explains this pistol’s Czech markings.
Fun fact: The Steyr Hahn doesn’t have a removable magazine. It’s loaded from the top with 8-round stripper clips, like a rifle, and the empty clip is thrown away after loading.
C&R eligible.
