Maker: Mauser
Type/Model: P-38, byf 44
Caliber: 9mm
Year: 1944
Condition: ~99% blue
Bore: Very Good+
Mauser P-38, BYF 44, 9mm. This is German WWII WaA135 proofed on the major parts, which are all matching. This has the red/brown Bakelite grips and no importer markings. The blue rates about 99% and the bore is VG+.
The P.38 was designed to replace the more expensive Luger P.08 as Germany’s standard military sidearm. The “byf” code identifies Mauser as the maker, “44” is the year of production, and the WaA135 markings show German military acceptance. With its matching parts, original finish, and no importer markings, this is a nice WWII example.
