The Walker was designed by Samuel Colt with Captain Samuel Walker of the Texas Rangers for service in the Mexican-American War. Only about 1,100 were made, which makes original Walker parts extremely rare.
Fun fact: The Walker order rescued Samuel Colt’s career. His first gun company had failed in 1842, and the government contract for the Walker put him back in business. The .44 caliber Walker was also the most powerful production revolver in the world until the .357 Magnum arrived in 1935.
