This Smith & Wesson Model 544, .44-40, is one of 4,782 Texas Wagon Train Commemoratives made for the Texas Sesquicentennial, 1836-1986. It is mint and unfired in the original Birchwood case with blue felt lining, the State of Texas outline marked 1836-1986, and the S&W logo.

The commemorative honored the Sesquicentennial Wagon Train, which spent six months in 1986 traveling about 3,000 miles through towns across the state. The revolver has a 5″ barrel marked “1836 Texas 1986” in gold, and a covered wagon logo on the side plate.

Fun fact: The .44-40 was a surprising choice. It was Smith & Wesson’s first revolver in that old frontier cartridge in decades.
