Description
Maker: Sauer
Model/Type: 38H
Caliber: 7.65mm
Condition/Finish: ~ 98% blue
Bore: Excellent
Sauer 38H, 7.65mm. This late-war variant has the “Cal. 7.65” slide legend and black Bakelite grips, which show cracks. The left trigger guard bears a German Police Eagle/F proof. The serial numbers on the frame and breech block were factory adjusted to match. The pistol retains approximately 98% of its blue finish, and the bore is excellent.
This comes with a black leather police-pattern holster that is maker marked on the back. A pin has been removed from the front of the holster.
The Sauer 38H was considered one of the most advanced pocket pistols of its era, featuring an unusual external lever that could both cock and decock its concealed internal hammer. The Eagle/F acceptance mark confirms that this example was accepted for German police service rather than ordinary commercial sale. “38H” is largely a collector term. Sauer generally called the safety-equipped pistol the Model H, with the “H” associated with its Hahnsicherung, or hammer safety.
