FN Model 1900 Browning, chambered in 7.65mm. This historically interesting Police-issued example is marked “K.St.A. Ltg. No. 5” on the left side of the frame. The marking identifies it with the Royal Prison Institution at Lichtenburg. Its exceptionally low issue number, “No. 5,” is especially noteworthy, as the lowest numbers were reportedly reserved for individuals holding the highest ranks within a particular institution. This pistol may therefore have been issued to an important official at the Lichtenburg prison.

The pistol is fitted with horn FN-logo grips, with the logos showing wear consistent with age and service. The safety markings are in German, with “Sicher” and “Feuer” indicating the safe and fire positions. Approximately 80% of the blue finish remains, and the bore rates VG.

Accompanying the pistol is a brown leather Police-pattern holster. The holster is maker marked, dated 1918, and Police marked inside the lid. A rectangular marking reading “L.Z.St J.Lpz” appears on the front, providing another identifiable period marking associated with the complete rig.

This documented pistol is also listed by serial number on Page 477 of FN Browning Pistols, adding valuable, published provenance to an already distinctive prison-marked example. Only 5 of these Lichtenburg Prison Guard Pistols have been identified to date.
