Ithaca 1911A1, .45 ACP. Built in 1944, this is “United States Property” marked on the right side of the frame. This has an “HS” (High Standard) barrel and an “S” (Scovill) marked magazine. This retains 99+% finish and the bore is Excellent. Fantastic example.

Ithaca is best known for its shotguns, but during World War II the company was one of the manufacturers called upon to produce M1911A1 pistols for the U.S. military. This 1944 example reflects that wartime effort, with its “United States Property” marking and parts bearing the names of other American suppliers. The High Standard barrel and Scovill magazine add to the story of how several companies contributed to production, while the exceptionally strong finish makes this pistol especially appealing to collectors.
