Type/Model: 1934, Blank Slide Variant
Caliber: .380 ACP (9mm Corto)
Markings: Crown RE on left rear tang
Grips: Black Bakelite
Condition: About 98% blue
Bore: Excellent
This Beretta 1934 blank slide pistol is chambered in .380 caliber and is Italian Military Crown RE proofed on the left rear tang. It has black Bakelite grips, retains about 98% blue, and the bore is excellent.
The Model 1934 was the standard sidearm of the Italian Army during World War II. The Crown “RE” marking stands for Regio Esercito, or Royal Italian Army.
Fun fact: The blank slide dates to one of the most chaotic moments in Italian history. After Mussolini was deposed in July 1943, and until Italy’s armistice with the Allies that September, Beretta didn’t know which government’s markings or Fascist-era date to stamp on its slides. So some pistols left the factory with blank slides. This makes the blank slide variation less commonly encountered than the standard, fully marked Model 1934. This pistol’s G-prefix serial number is consistent with that 1943 production.
This pistol is more than 50 years old and is eligible for Curio & Relic (C&R) transfer.
